Well, just as I signed up to train for the Nike half marathon in San Francisco, I go and break one of my middle toes and am now in a boot for a month. UGH! That's ok though, I would rather have an injury at the beginning of training, rather than the middle or end. 4 weeks from now we will be at 3-4 miles a run and I should be able to catch up to that rather quickly. I am nervous about this race though. Even though it's not till October, I have a LOT of fundraising to do for the Leukemia and Lymphoma society. It's the highest fundraiser I have done yet so I am just praying I can make my minimum. I am also a bit worried about the hills. My last half marathon was in Savannah GA and was nice and flat. San Francisco will have a lot of hills. We train on hills, but still, they make me nervous. Also, I won't have my hubby running by my side cheering me on, that will be a new experience for me. In a lot of ways, this feels like my first half marathon. I am doing this one all on my own, no help from the hubby and no flat ground. I will keep you posted on my training once I am able to start back.
There is a link on the top left corner of my site if you would like to donate. It's tax deductible and for a great cause. The LLS helps people with blood cancers and will one day find a cure.
Thanks, Emily
